Create an MP4 from a supported MKV

  1. Choose an MKV video.

  2. Set the quality and maximum long edge.

  3. Play the MP4 to check picture and sound, then download it.

Track selection and codec compatibility

Converting MKV to MP4 re-encodes the video. It is not a simple rename, so quality and file size differ from the original.

Only the primary video and audio tracks are used. Subtitles and extra tracks are omitted. Unsupported audio produces an error; you can explicitly turn off Keep audio to request a silent result.

Frequently asked questions

Why can one MKV work while another fails?

MKV is a container, not a video codec. Your browser must decode the video and audio inside it and encode H.264/AAC for the output.

Does MKV to MP4 copy all subtitles and audio languages?

No. Only the primary video and audio tracks are processed. Additional tracks and subtitles are not copied.

Will changing the MKV file extension to MP4 do the same thing?

No. Renaming does not convert the container or codecs. This tool writes an MP4 and re-encodes its media.

Can I force an unsupported MKV codec to convert?

Not in this tool. Try a browser with the required decoder or convert the file using another application.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Files are processed in your browser on this device and are not sent to BlurMe servers.
