How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Choose the HEIC photos from your phone.

  2. Set the quality. Higher values keep more detail and make larger files.

  3. Download each JPG or get them all as a ZIP.

Why iPhone photos arrive as HEIC

HEIC is a HEIF container holding an image compressed with HEVC, the codec also known as H.265. iPhones save photos this way by default because it needs less space than JPG for similar quality. Many websites, online forms and some Windows apps still cannot open it. For those, you need a JPG copy.

This tool decodes the file in your browser with libheif and encodes the first image in it as JPG at your Quality setting. Depth data and HDR information stored with the photo are not included. To capture JPGs directly next time, choose Most Compatible under Formats in the iPhone's Camera settings.

Frequently asked questions

Does this export every image or motion from an HEIC file?

No. Only the first image is converted, and Live Photo motion is not exported.

Will the JPG keep the date and location of my photo?

No. The image is re-encoded through a canvas, so EXIF details such as the capture date, camera model and GPS location are not copied. Keep the HEIC originals if you rely on that information for sorting or maps.

Why is a 48-megapixel photo rejected?

Images are limited to 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side so the browser does not run out of memory. A 48 MP photo is over that limit, so use a lower-resolution copy instead.

Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

Slightly, because the photo is compressed again as JPG. At the default Quality of 80 the difference is usually hard to spot at normal viewing size. Use 90 or higher for prints or further editing, and expect larger files.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Files are processed in your browser on this device and are not sent to BlurMe servers.
