Convert MOV to MP4 · How to use this tool

  1. Choose a MOV video.

  2. Set the quality and maximum long edge. Keep audio on if you need sound.

  3. Play the MP4 and download it.

Prepare camera and phone MOV clips for sharing

MOV is a container, so two files with this extension can use different codecs. The converter creates a new MP4 with H.264 video and, if retained, AAC audio.

This is a re-encode, not a rename, so phone HDR, extra audio tracks and camera metadata are not fully kept.

Frequently asked questions

Can this tool convert every iPhone or camera MOV?

No. HEVC, ProRes and other input codecs depend on browser decoding support. An unsupported source must be converted in another compatible environment.

Can I rename .mov to .mp4 instead of converting?

Renaming does not change the video or audio encoding. This tool writes a new MP4 container and re-encodes the video.

Will MOV to MP4 change the picture dimensions?

Only when a smaller maximum long edge is selected, apart from rounding to even pixel dimensions required by the encoder.

Is my original MOV modified when I convert it?

No. A separate MP4 is created for download and the MOV on your device remains unchanged.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Files are processed in your browser on this device and are not sent to BlurMe servers.
