How to extract frames from a video

  1. Choose a video.

  2. Enter the start, end and interval in seconds.

  3. Download single frames or all of them as a ZIP.

Choosing an interval and reading the file names

Each frame is a PNG at the video's full resolution, taken at the start time and then once per interval. With the defaults of 0 to 10 seconds and an interval of 1, you get 10 frames at 0, 1, 2 and so on up to 9 seconds. Names carry a three-digit index and the timestamp, as in clip-frame-004-3.000s.png, so they sort in time order.

PNG frames are lossless, so a long run of full HD or 4K frames grows quickly and can reach the 150 MB output limit before 120 frames. Start with a wide interval for an overview, then narrow the section around the moment you need. To place chosen frames side by side for comparison, combine them in Merge images.

Supported files

MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV → PNG

  • One file, up to 512 MB
  • Total output: 150 MB
  • Maximum image size: 40 MP · 16,384 px
  • Maximum output files: 120 · Interval (seconds) ≥ 0.1

Codec support depends on your browser. A supported extension alone does not guarantee processing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the end time included in frame extraction?
No. Frames are saved at each interval from the start up to, but not including, the end.
Why do I get an error after lowering the interval?
A single run can produce at most 120 frames. On a one minute video, 0 to 60 seconds at an interval of 0.5 gives 120 frames, but 0.4 would need 150. Shorten the section or widen the interval.
Why are some extracted frames identical?
Each timestamp takes the frame that is showing at that moment. Videos with a low frame rate, and screen recordings that hold one frame while nothing moves, can return the same picture for several timestamps.
Can I export every frame of a 30 fps video?
No. The minimum Interval (seconds) is 0.1, which captures 10 frames per second, or roughly every third frame of a 30 fps video. At that interval, the 120-frame limit covers 12 seconds.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Files are processed in your browser on this device and are not sent to BlurMe servers.
